At the most recent Policy Committee last Wednesday, Policy Committee members discussed dozens of proposed new policies related to special education (starting on page 11 of the PDF).
Could this have been prompted by Sue Adler's suggestion at the last Board meeting September 4 that the district take a second look at a report on special education in the district prepared several years ago which found the district was not fulfilling all its legal obligations to children with disabilities? (It seems unlikely that the Committee would be able to revise 77 pages of policy in last than a week, though, so maybe this is just a routine annual review.)
Will the Board be discussing any of these proposed new policies at Thursday's meeting? It's too soon to say (the agenda usually isn't posted until a day or two before the meeting, at best), but parents whose children have IEPs or 504 plans may want to keep their schedules open just in case.
